happens all the time - people commit to taking the placement with stock trading at a premium - stock retracts towards placement price, placement takers sell immediately, usually at a profit, but occasionally at a small loss - see this time and time again - shame they can't escrow the stock for a month or two, but then no one would take on the capital raise
