I am only a reasonably new holder, but I was concerned when I was buying about the shorting of BUB.
From late March, the total shorts have steadily increased from around 1.5m shares to over 15m shares (or 2.93%) at last report (as at 17 Oct - https://www.shortman.com.au/stock?q=bub).
And when you look at the daily shorting, there have been a few recent days where the short-selling appears to have ramped up & has reached over 20% (ie that's 20%+ of the day's sells) and as high as 31%, including Thursday/Friday last week & Monday this week. So that certainly has "helped" stifle the share price, particularly since 10 Oct.
I would expect the shorts % for today (published by the ASX tomorrow) will easily show a 20%+ figure.
As to the reason behind the shorting, I have no idea, as shorting activity can be undertaken for a variety of strategies including accumulation.
Just for information & perhaps for keeping an eye on!
