I agree with you but we need to recalibrate the economy, we need a recession it is the only way we will get back to some kind of reality. I laugh at the fact that coffee shops and nail salons are deemed important, when you are broke and have no roof over your head and no food to eat I do not think people will be worried about their nails or a cup of coffee!!!!
We have been living in a bubble where everything is available at a small cost to the consumer and your basic city dweller really has no idea what a hard days work is. The government has made this even worse by treating the general public like a load of kids, handing out money in the hope that this will all blow over and we can return to our artificial lives. It just does not add up, people are worried about getting their nails done but cannot fork out an extra dollar for a litre of milk or a bunch of carrots?
It is more important to look groomed and successful with a flash car etc but have a lot of debt, rather than look average, a car you can afford and much less debt.
A lot of people are going to have to forget the weekly trips to the salon and the clothes shops, the botox injections and dare I say it, the daily coffee shop visits.
We have to produce something other than a piece of paper, tourism and overseas students should not make or break our economy. We have to be a producer of goods not an exporter of the base materials to make them.
Government is not going to get us out of this one, they are just digging us a deeper hole. We will not come out of this by shuffling pieces of paper around a government desk. We are going to have to take some responsibility for our financial welfare.Wake up!
