In todays AFR in Street Talk column it says that WPL are considering a bid for a US based oiler called Westport Resources Corp and are considering a $1 billion placement to fund it (this would directly dilute current shareholders' equity).
They are also looking at Prassug Energie in Europe for around $1.8 billion. I'm not sure how they would fund the latter but I doubt they would do both, so most likely also a placement or perhaps borrowing.
