Dont Know. But I am willing to speculate. When there is market uncertainty the bigger players stay out of the market leaving mainly retail traders etc. Due to the lack of buying strength stock prices go down, then when they are a down by more than fair value the bigger players come in and pick off the lower prices. On up market days the big players play both the buy and sell sides of the market and stock prices go up.
