The RC brought about a change in sentiment or added to a change in perception and sentiment. Mainly among the majority of people who do not use financial planners. This is not a change in economic conditions.
As you point out it is not black and white. But this is why your statement that amp acted within their rights is flawed. There was a contract. Both parties had rights. So far only one side has lost out. Legal action is about equity - evening out any unfair action by one party. Prima facie amp has acted unfairly.
