Agree with your points here wholeheartedly.

Raising the GST is a very effective way of increasing tax revenue for the State Governments.....

12.5% is more than reasonable.

As you point out it's the people who have the money to spend who will pay the most tax revenue......

We have one of the lowest GST/VAT rates in the world. Most countries have 15% to 25% taxes.

Don't agree that it should be broadened to include fresh fruit and veges though, they should remain exempt.
