My view on WHC is get short, stay short. This stock has $2 written all over it in the short term.

The break down through $2.85 was significant with a few technicals confirming this. MACD is negative and coming down, along with the stochastics on the daily which will roll back over and are still negative on the weekly. There is no real support between here and $2.00.

Once we fail this $2.70 region, we are off to the races. Most analysts have been late to the party (as per usual), with their upgrades, trying to justify the price movement in WHC & save face. However there is one analyst that I think is on the money here and has produced this interesting. chart worth considering...

The only thing (aside from corporate actions) that will take WHC back through the $3 region in the short term is if thermal + met coal prices get another leg up from here, which I think is highly unlikely in the near term.

I think high quality thermal coal has upside yet in a world where transporting lower calorific coals will get more difficult, and financing for new mines is hard

Met coal always has short term upside given the potential for significant supply side disruptions
