Most people generally know and accept there is a Plunge Protection Team (PPT) actively following the Dow Jones as a 'protectionary' arm of US Govt, manipulating movements on a, one would assume daily basis. Why does it therefore surprise that the USDA (also a US govt dept) also has a hand in on grain prices and sometimes that hand can be obviously seen. They don't want food hyperinflation ... just yet. Food boom part 1 was designed to encourage farmers to blow out debt levels ... just look at the dairy sector. Poor blighters are paying to deliver you and I milk on a daily basis.
