It was reported that gougers and panners, mostly villagers, took an estimated 1 million ounces out of the topsoil and valley bed, back in the eighties.
Reflect on that for a moment. How far down did they go? They were barely scratching the surface, compared to the depths we will go down. The deposits are epithermal in origin, so they came from great depth.
IMO the deeper we drill, the more we will find. Like Porgera, Mt.Kare will end up with a deep underground mine, after untold ounces have been pulled from open cuts.
