Not on 9/11 that is for sure. My guess is the period 1971-1975, the big oil crisis from a big jump in price. The US got off the gold standard, Shah of Iran deposed, Russia invades Afghanistan, Iran/Iraq war, first Gulf war, second Gulf war, 9/11, invasion of Afghanistan, invasion of Iraq. Mixed among all these events are plane hijackings, assassinations, Israel/Palestine wars. The terror we are being told about these days started a long time ago and we did our share of it initially. We can hardly be surprised at the outcome of many people fighting over a diminishing commodity. Blaming it on Islam is kindergarten level argument, as is blaming it on the US. We are all to blame because we will not give up our love of cheap oil as our high standard of living depends on it. Sanity will return when technology makes us less dependent on a few sources of energy and we use it more economically. A cut back in consumerism will bring short term hardships but may be necessary to allow technology to catchup.
