Im in a similar position to you Johno. Im doing well and meeting my targets trading. i feel comfortable in what im doing and feel that i can do this for a living. im at a stage now where trading is getting in the way of work and work is getting in the way of trading. sooner or later something has to give and i will be doing one or the other and not both.

for what its worth, i consider the following points:

i dont want to give up my job atm because it provides me with security. i can go to the bank and get a loan without a problem if i need. will i be able to do this if i was a full-time trader?

if i quit my job and trading doesnt work out what sort of work am i going to get after? better or worse job? same one?

if i lose my job i can always trade while looking for other work. if successful i can support myself and no need to rush and take the 1st job available. if successful i can keep trading for a living.

is my capital enough to support myself in a bad year? what sort of % gain would i need to support myself?

my kitty is for me borderline atm. taking a conservative approach i think it is too risky for me to leave my work now and rely on trading. i plan to work next year, grow my capital and trade around work. if im still doing well from trading after end of 2010 i know that my capital will be large enough to support myself from fulltime trading. i will look to make my decision then. important thing is i have a plan and a backup if it doesnt work out.
