Maintaining a postive outlook in the presence of negativity is difficult. Its a mental game, it's not easy, but the good thing about that is that your mentality is the one thing that you do actually have the ability to have control over. Its all up to you.
If you really think there is no hope, you should check your own logic as to why you came to that conclusion, and if you still believe there is no hope, act on your rational thoughts. Sell out ASAP or in a staged manner that best minimises your losses as well as you can manage.
Alternatively if after rational and careful consideration the case for holding onto the shares has not changed, and it still suits your time frame, keep hold of the mofo's.. Otherwise you are letting emotions guide your decisions on things that are impervious to your emotions, i.e.. you dont have any control.
IMO the reasons why you'd hold DRE have not remained static over the years. At one point it was the potential of TY, the REE's during the bull market for them and a few other things. Well as we know, the REE prices died in the arse.. that certainly would have been a good time to adjust your position. Ditto TY, Delays and complications getting in there to drill it and other things happened around the same time as REE prices tanked. An even better time to exit if you had a clear view of that. Not always the easiest thing to do though. Things have changed though. we've been through some hard times and the company has reassessed its direction and changed plans. Made good plans IMO.
Personally? I think in any company, esp an exploration company that has a good team is a huge part of the picture, esp one that is invested heavily in a way that guides them to act in their own benefit, which is also happens to be in share holders benefit is a good place to be. A good team will do good things eventually by definition, whereas good ground will not necessarily reward shareholders if there is a crap team exploring it. I do believe we have a good team.
Yes DRE has had some challenges, thats life and business in general but they have done a good job of refocusing on the Mangaroon gold, developed a relatively low risk plan that should bear fruit in a reasonably short time frame in a market sphere energised by a rising gold price. At the same time our prior energy that was put into the REE sector has been sitting there, underappreciated but in no way diminished.. waiting for the moment thats ripe for us to capitalise on it again.. I think that moment is now beginning to draw closer..
Twiggy's deal with hastings, Chyyyyyna's tiff with Trump...restricting their rare earth exports etc and the seemingly ongoing manipulation of REE's.. is only gathering pace and drawing attention to this relative small volatile sector. Demand is growing, pressure to the upside is now building.. Wars, rapidly increasing electrification of everything and impending robotics revolution are gathering pace and signalling that the demand is at some point going to add to that pressure and reach a crunch point where china's manipulation will be a lot less effective at the same time that demand, out of neccessity overrides the price suppression. DRE has a large RE deposit, that has favourable metallurgy, with huge further potential. It's located next to a neighbour that has been funded by both govt grants and the deep pockets of extremely wealthy persons to build a processing facility. All this in a pretty good, safe mining friendly jurisdiction in a country that has relatively favourable trade relations with the country that probably needs them the most.. USA.. How long before the value of our deposit is recognised by the market.. either passively or through some action like the obvious one that involves our neighbour or someone else making a deal to secure what we have?
DRE is also well advanced with the gold mining deal which along with further exciting exploration is now fully funded and being executed as we speak. This is great timing, setting us up at the right time to exploit the high gold prices and the takeover fever that may ensue.
The share price is at extreme lows at a time where a lot of the bad shit is looking like it may be in the rear view mirror, if not close. The market has not appreciated this yet. It wants confirmation, actual money rolling in from the gold or rare earths or whatever to prove it beyond doubt before they throw more money in out direction.. Fair enough.. they will get that opportunity eventually.. but they will pay a premium for buying in at a time of more certainty. Those of us who have psychopathic levels of emotional detatchment, and believe the narrative I have laid out before only need a modicum.. or maybe a few modicums actually.. of further patience and we will be rewarded by the premium that existed between those who needed confirmation of the value and those that took a cold hard look at the facts and acted on what they saw and the unrealised potential, held strong during the tough times.
Ok, thats my take, and is basically why I've not only hung onto these shares but bought a truckload more at the recent prices.
There is no guarantee Im right but I'm putting my money where my mouth is, backing myself, being patient and believing in the latest version of what I see as the facts which support the case for me holding on to these shares.
Of course a little pinch of luck wouldnt go astray but in terms of letting go as you mentioned? I'm far from that point. In fact I have been one of those that take the opposite view and are grabbing hold of that which others are letting go of. I have belief in the company, the plan and a lot of the macro factors that will eventually help us get that bit of "luck" we need.
its by no means easy maintaining this stance in the face of so many negative inputs to the contrary but I tend to not be too emotional, and hang on for the reasons I laid out above. I still believe in it. If I didnt i'd sell out straight away.
