As a matter of course the first thing a new CEO does is ensure the company is presented in the worst possible light; this ensures that from their appointment on the company's financial improvement can be associated with that appointment.
For a year or so they can always blame the previous CEO; eventually they will be removed and the cycle repeats itself.
