Chemeq - an old dog that's grabbed the lead

Last year's "dog" stock, veterinary drug maker Chemeq, sits atop the performers list for 2005 following a 20 per cent share price surge yesterday in the first trading session of the new year.
Investors saw turnaround potential in the stock, pushing Chemeq 25c higher to $1.49 before a trading halt was called ahead of an announcement - expected today - concerning "funding arrangements currently being negotiated".
