Buyers now have choice...and that makes them kings . if this were the only auction for the year then they would be less picky. GEMS upcomming auction has certainly guven buyers greater power..and with power comes more discernment, less upward price momentum. forget about lack of supply..lack of supply always has a lag time and is at first related to individual buyers inventory. when lack of supply becomes a global or industry wide concern it is only then that it can be measured and the elasticity of demand will be tested.
This competition is not something that GEM has had to put up with. their next auction will test them as well...if they fail or dont live up to expectations then as a new company they may be subject to the same compaints and incriminations as mustangs management.
Rather than pumping their chests out they would do well to study mustangs auction experience and learn from it...i know we will
