boysy1 began a thread the other day (Post 4723915 on 12/11/2009) with the heading about drilling must be immiment.

Now I had made a post a few days earlier to that, which began the "an aha moment" thread which indicated that the rig, Hakuryu 5, had been released from it previous operator and was now to be taken by Premier who would have it till late December.

All that tied in with Premier's original indication that a second well would be drilled in Block 07/03 mid November and it would be using the Hakuryu 5.

Right well I have just been checking Rigzone's site and looking at where rigs are currently. Now the detail about Hakuryu indicates this :
Operating Status: Drilling
Operator: Premier
Region: Asia - SouthEast
Country: Viet nam

Ummmmm. Now what does that mean?
Does it mean that because the Hakuryu 5 is now in Premier's hands and is intended to drill a well in Block 07/03 offshore Vietnam that its considered status is deemed to be "drilling" because it is intended to do that once it gets started.

Or are we take it at face value and say that if its declared status is said to be "drilling" then it must actually be started and it is already drilling ?????

Unfortunately I do not know enough about Oil Industry jargon to know how we should interpret that simple word.

Obviously Premier Oil has not released any comment yet about where it is up to in starting the second well.

And PPP has gone to ground and conveniently cannot release any comment until Premier does. Talk about the Secret Service !

Do we really need this ?

If anyone out there has specific knowledge to share on the terminology then could you toss it into the ring.
