I think it depends on the fine. My understanding of the CBA situation was that they argued it down through admissions, mitigations etc.
What people seem to be missing is that the trillion dollar fines being mentioned are really big for a reason. Now no one thinks that they're going to cop anything like a trillion dollar fine but if they're adjudged to have committed the offences they're accused of then just how does the conversation go that reduces any massive fine?
I personally think the fine COULD be quite a bit bigger than many on here are expecting. Maybe, maybe not. But if it's a big one the share price could take a big hit before recovering.
