The child care rebate having come from off from most families due to the "means testing" has caused occupancy to lower across the industry and the childcare industry to struggle to pay wages, even break even as mortgage laden families take their kids out of childcare.
This Australian Government needs to be more supportive of working families and make childcare more affordable for GEM and others to do better.
The great news for GEM is many not-for-profits and smaller for profit players like KKR's Camp Australia will go to the wall rather than be turned around.
In the future, there will be enormous barriers to entry for new childcare centers setting up in places like Queensland, NSW and Victoria.
