You appear to believe mask wearing and restrictions are the domain
of just Victoria. Of course thats not true as every State has imposed
restrictions whenever a State has a Covid outbreak.

The level of compliance by the citizens usually determines the length of
lockdowns and restrictions as do the effort of contact tracing and once again
the compliance of people that have been identified at covid exposure sites.

Restrictions have been required in every State as stop gap measures
until the vast majority of the population have been vaccinated.

Our vaccination program started rather late but its now building up
being embraced by the great majority of people. In NSW just over
86% have received their first dose and in Victoria they will soon
get to that level. Once all the people that want vaccination have received
it, they will open the country and it will be just the small percentage of
unvaccinated people such as yourself that will face serious risk from
Covid as well as others who either choose not accept vaccination,
or have conditions that do not permit vaccination.

I am sad that the unvaccinated for any reason will be the ones
that predominate in hospital ICUs and many of them will die
because once opened up Covid will rip through the population.

However, the country cannot remain in full lockdown forever and
once over 80% of the population are fully protected the country will
open up albeit there will be targeted restrictions in hotspot areas.

I guess its not much comfort to the un-vaccinated who will cop the
consequences, but as a country Australia will have given everyone
the opportunity to be vaccinated so the small percentage that wont
will have to wear the consequences of their decision when the time
comes probably by the end of the year. The 5% -10% of people
unvaccinated means over a million people will be at risk of contracting
Covid when we open up.and potentialy many thousands will wind up
in hospital.

Thats the scenario unfolding before us and as I have said I am saddened
that many of unvaccinated may face dire consequences. Their choice though.

Everyone will still be at risk. Efficacy drops 6% per month. They stopped the trials too early so we cant even get a long term picture to compare control with the vaccinated imo. Enjoy your sense of security. But I take a a cynical view. Money in the bank for pfizer with booster shots to come.
