Telstra has confirmed it will enter into a joint venture with China's Shanghai General Electronics to provide telecom services in the Shanghai region.
This follows yesterday's announcement that Telstra was taking full control of Hong Kong mobile phone provider, CSL.
Telstra has made it clear it wants to expand its Asian markets, focusing on China first.
A Telstra spokesman says negotiations with General Electronics are still at an early stage and Telstra has not decided yet how much it will invest in the venture.
