Hi there,
I know your father in law isnt a dog, but I witnessed quite an amazing recovery of my brothers dog about six months ago
His dog was extremely old and in a real bad way, couldnt walk, back legs no longer working, blind too, it was time for sure, no doubt about it. just sitting there doing nothing and could not go to the toilet on her own and the vet recommended her to be put down
But my stubborn sister in law said no and i thought this dog was going to really suffer
anyway to cut a long story short, the dog went on to live another 6 months, even starting walking again. Each week I saw a miraculous turn about in her health. I think they threw every drug at the old girl and she came good again and had a pretty reasonable quality of life with not much suffering
pretty amazing come back, your a long time dead. After seeing that it changed my opinion and im a bit more pro life now than I used to be
