Hello to all who have kindly replied. The best thing about this forum are all the caring folk who reply to fellow members who need help.

We had a change of doctors late yesterday and a complete change in attitude. No longer asking to withhold treatment but actively treating the pneumonia with antibiotics. The vomiting was found to be caused by impaction which was shifted by a lot of fluids.

When admitted the breathing was laboured and each accompanied by soft moans, slurred speech and complete disorientation. This afternoon he woke when we arrived and seemed to be much brighter. Oxygen had been removed and breathing was regular without pain. He still isn't eating much but having seen the food it's not surprising (pretty stodgy). He happily had some coffee and kept sipping on his water.

The new Doc is very happy with his improvement and believes he will be heading home again. Seeing him today we think it is possible as well.

I think we have learn't a valuable lesson in trusting your own instincts and not to be influenced by others into making hasty decisions which you may come to regret. Everyone deserves a chance to fight on if they have the will.
