This is a great thread for someone who's been out of the action for a month or so. Thanks for that. I think Colin Twiggs has hit the mood on the nail... that is, just how phony are these rallies?

Notice he's also tweaking the recession predictor .. its a nice touch from him. This bloke is getting some serious mumbo behind him these day, in my head anyway. I don't always agree with him, but he usually maps the risk pretty well. Anyway, after some good quality stats tweaks the recession meter is predicting a much higher risk of recession than it predicted previously. (and I was impressed by his dialogue with a German bloke about this, specially cos I couldn't read a word of the german site!) But German?! Wow! Thats really mathematical!
