Just a few more from the 50,s
riding on the bread cart stearing the horse and helping do the deliveries (every house got fresh hot bread) sometimes rewarded with 1/2 loaf of hot bread which I liked to eat just the inside of and give the rest to mum to make into stuffing for roast chooks .

The chooks were great sport ,every week you chase one down, hold him on the wood chopping block and dad would off with his head and you let him go ,around the yard with no head ,blood going everywhere,then stick him in a bucket of boiling water and pluck him.

The iceman would bring in the biggest lump for the Icebox and if your lucky it didnt fit so you get to chip some off and have have a nice big fat iceblock.
