Getting beaten by a cane must surely be a lot different to getting beaten by the strap, which again must be a lot different to getting beaten by a black board ruler, which must also be different to getting beaten by a beer bottle, which obviously is different to getting beaten by a fist, a boot, the back or the front of a hand, the forehead...
