Agree with you there. I've always believed that the bank should be sold as it will be hard to achieve scale with this size of book. MQG showed how to grow a mortgage book aggressively in a relatively short space of time but its only one example among lots of smaller players. Pending the final outcome of the ANZ/Suncorp bank acquisition another round of consolidation is possible - high levels of competition, margin pressure and desire for scale being the driving factors IMO.
