I agree with what you say about AMP insurance and its separation. I guess the only issue is the fact that it resulted in the destruction of value for shareholders.
Insurance division sale completed 01/07/2020;
- Share price on 01/07/2020 was $1.89
- share price today $1.58
- Destruction of value = $0.31c per share or 16%
- Share price was trending upwards in the 4 months preceding the insurance sale
It is pretty clear from above that there was no benefit in selling the insurance division and the destruction of value will continue if the rest of the group is busted up in the same way.
