That smell your smelling is the putrefied carcass of a short.
AMP is in a better place than it was a few years ago, the shorts know it and have (and are) jumping ship.
The share price is dropping slowly down in correlation to ASX and other world markets at the moment. It looks like it bounced off the 200 DMA and hopefully will stay above that mark before moving up again.
