AMP operates in a very competitive environment and those competitors are the ones who often provide "valuations" of the company and offer "recommendations". The same AMP (Wealth) was caught out acting very badly by the RC. It is not the first time, nor the last time that a corporation will do bad things and will/will not get caught. There has a been a continuous litany a "bad news stories" over the last two years, whereas other transgressions such as money laundering have seemed to disappear from the spotlight. Journalists choose where to put the spotlight and in this case have chosen AMP. All good for AMP's competitors. Now, the brand is tarnished, people are haggling over its value. The question for a possible acquirer is "what can this company be worth in 5-10 years, can we do better with their assets and do we want to remove this weakened competitor from our patch?"
