I am inclined to comment here.
A share buy back isn't used as a defence to a low ball offer. A defence to a low ball offer is to say no.
buyback occur all the time and are a natural way for companies to reduce the amount of shares in the market and therefore take ownership back for the existing shareholders.
its also a sign that the company has a strong balance sheet and does not need the extra cash.
