Kinda seems like some people in this forum think AMP is hot property as a takeover target. The truth is that AMP is not a desirable business and that there arent many suitors at all looking at taking it over. Sure, a few companies have run the ruler over AMP with a view to snagging AMP Capital but both KKR and Macquarie have done their research and walked away. Ares looks like they have a free run to take over AMP at a price that reflects their own valuation and this looks like it is going to be $1.85. It is unlikely that this would be an all-cash offer so the long-suffering shareholders may be stuck with script in whatever entity emerges out of this. This is of course if the deal even goes ahead, which I highly doubt.
