A Macquarie / AMP tie up would create an Australian champion.
1. It will make a MQG a top 5 bank (currently shared with ING and Bendigo Adelaide Bank).
2. Increase their funds under management to over $750bn and towards the magic trillion mark.
3. Bring in the right leadership and stewardship qualities AMP is in desparate need of.
4. Provide synergies across distribution capabilities, global footprint and cost efficiency.
the list goes on and on... however the only set back is that based on MQG track record- they probably dont need AMP to drive their growth...so im not surprised if they sit on the sidelines.
