you call people dumb and they you show complete ignorance of the process - kinda sums up a lot of commenta on this site.
to short a stock you borrow it off someoene and immediatly sell it
You then pay them the interest ( daily) while.you have the stock on loan. (why else would they lend it to you if they didnt receive a return?) You hope to buy the stock in the future at a cheaper price , and return the borrowed srock to original lender and pocket the difference minus interest payments.
just try and call your brook and ask to short CBA they will laugh at you w
