I can't answer this question, but I can add my 2c It won't start with banning, it'll start with either increasing rego for euro 1/2/3/4 cars gradually increasing to the point of un-affordability, similar to what is done in Denmark, or just an outright ban but the tax is an easier option for them. I also see a possible oil crisis/war/supply issue further pushing people into EV.
I don't understand the push, I'd imagine all of the mining, refinement of rare earths to get 1x EV on the road to then continue using fossil fuels to charge, or "renewables" which are again, mined rare-earths by diesels etc. to then make a fraction of what it took to make them.. Whats the big deal :\
I hope ICE are never ban. The west is going to hurt only itself, as 3rd worlds and "developing economies" won't stop using ICE. I see vehicles as more than a A to B, they are amazing pieces of engineering, and the character that comes from a small engine with a big turbo, that manages 6 seconds 0 - 100 spinning the first 2 gears, is something a 3 second 0 - 100 in a EV just can't replicate.
