Lets be real, if you own 3 or 4 coal powered generators are you likely to:
(a) do expensive long term R&M/upgrades?
(b) increase supply to the grid by building massive solar or wind generators thereby oversupplying the market and knocking the ass out of price?

IMO no. I'd hang in there as I am now and make as much money return on my investment as I can and then scrap the lot.

This is why the provision of power long term has to be a Government issue where the Government owns the major share
rather than throwing taxpayers funds at private enterprise in the hope that we wont have another Enron.
That's wishful thinking IMO.

Mick, good pointS, but i think it may go the other way. Private ent takes control and therein it goes to hell, they will xharge what they like and it coukd end up way more brutal than now. You csn guarantee one thing, unless govt own and control the assets, the mums n dads are gona get reemed ,,all for doing what they thought was best.
