What will end ICE vehicles is the fact that they simply won't be able to compete on price. They will drive themselves out of business.
As the purchase price continues to fall, which it clearly has been, the total cost of owner ship swings to the ev. It will be fleet owners the accelerate the demise of the ICE vehicle.
Evs are many times cheaper to operate and maintain.
Batteries. There is already a very strong market for used EV batteries for repurposing as people are using them for stationary energy storage. Something that saves them money.
Evs will enable people and businesses to generate and store their own energy saving them a considerable amount of money . An issue that is a hot button point right now all around the world.
An EV fleet means that the country will have a huge distributed energy storage system multiple times the size of any coal fired power station. It means the country will massively improve it's energy security for free.
ICE vehicles will still exist for recreation just as horses do today although most of the classics will be ev converted.
Sadly, the current conventonial ICE is a dead man walking.
