That's the sum of it - no one would dispute that they deliver more torque and reach speed quicker - but that's not what the discussion is.
They are a niche product.
As a mode of transport for the masses, they are not, and will not be, fit for purpose any time soon.
Would you recommend one to your young daughter or son, who in a few years time will be needing the dollars to bring up children and pay off a mortgage rather than fork out 000s of dollars just to keep the family vehicle going ?
My next vehicle will be a petrol SUV - and I am confident I will get 15 years out of it and still be able sell it when I'm done with it.
