    Yeah, they chew thru tires just driving them normally. They don't make "electric" tyres that last longer, and if they did you'd pay for them.
    As you only get 2kw out of a standard plug in charger, I wonder how much, plus installation, and additional direct wiring from your street input
    (and assuming those wires that run past your house have the spare capacity, and OH so many don't) one of these faster chargers cost, on top of the car and the solar panels on your roof, + more if what you have only now covers your daily usage ( and bang goes the feed-in rebate if its already big enough).
    And the "cheaper" EV's coming will all be Chinese, with typically cheap batteries. We remain a vehicle dumping ground in Australia, as we don't do car production no more.
