you say that 350,000 CQT shares is not even the equivalent of 5,000 BHP shares. You are right:
In terms of Traded Volume Today BHP traded almost 14million shares. So 5,000 shares would be 0.03% of the daily traded volume.
CQT traded 600,000 shares per day averaged over the last 20 days. Therefore 350,000 shares would represent a huge proportion of the daily volume.
In terms of Time 5,000 BHP shares are traded on average every 10 seconds.** 350,000 CQT shares would take about 3 hours.
In terms of shares on issue BHP has over 3.5Billion shares on issue. So 5,000 shares is about 0.0001% of the company.
CQT has 271million shares on issue. So 375,000 is 0.1%. Or a magnitude of 1000x more.
Conclusion So..siameseparrot is almost right... 5,000 BHP and 350,000 CQT are not equivalent.
It is clear that whilst 5,000BHP shares could trade in a tiny amount of time - 350,000 CQT shares on the market depth could well impact the daily share movement.
