Not with Westpac, anyway.
We opened a new account with online banking enabled and a Mastercard debit card for 88 yo. father-in-law as an upgrade from his passbook account.
He certainly hasnt been offered a trading account or margin lending facility, but he's not too stressed about it :-) .
Obviously they only target those who they think would use it.
