Perhaps many of the trades are just American speculators using American brokers that can trade shares directly on the ASX?
Plenty of Americans love guns. Some of them don?t trust the US govt. This second point could translate to them thinking they should invest abroad away from the US$. With currency movements, I think US speculators would still be okay with the overall US$ value of their MST shares.
I think American investors are more likely to invest in Defence companies than Aussie investors. Furthermore, I think American investors still like (or once again like) technology stocks. So for an American investor/speculator, they get out of the US$ and have exposure to a defence technology company with protection/benefit of currency movements. Thus plenty of action on the ASX may just be coming from a range of US speculators (institutional and individual).
I do think a major player is likely to take over MST in order to own their IP. I just don?t think they would do it in a complex, long time frame, kind of way. Once a player decides MST IP has real value, they will simple buy MST. I think this is the way it usually happens with IP owned by small R&D technology companies. But, considering a take over of MST can only happen once, 99% of trading days will not be the take over day!!!! But every dog has its day!!
