Apple has 20 to 25 % share of mobile ph market in US so potential 20 to 25% credit card (phone) business,their payment app is taking off like hot cakes unlike other payment app providers and confirmed by all credit issuers like visa,mastercard discovery etc .Users with nfc payments on their apple phones are demanding merchants (the smaller merchants) as the larger chains already accept the payments app and any US bank of any significance back the apple app but now that makes them ,the banks,price takers in the future.
So now the mass global market apple said they have full intentions of expanding into other countries,australia early 2015.
So now the interesting part,already visa who has agreements with nfc payment providers like vodafone,even visa,mastercard etc etc have said apple app payment uptake is massive and growing fast,combined with apple jv with companies like china mobile something like 500m customers and some other large provider so clearly they should/will grow into a position where they can introduce their 'patented' currency with their above massive partners eg visa etc,banks,china mobile etc.
