many are nimbys, including myself.... I wouldn't live near a coal mine, CSG field or coal/gas electricity generator.... would you? no-one would. same too with nuclear.
yet people have lived 'near' coal related industries for many years. there have also been many complaints about pollution from both. coal mining is very dangerous, releases serious levels of pollutants, many are carcinogous, and seriously pollutes the environment. CSG is even worse. Uranium is relatively safer.
imo nuclear is far safer and less polluting than coal or gas..... only due to modern safety of mining operations and electricity generation plants.
but I do get that there remains a fear of nuclear. I've overcome my fears by learning with an open mind. this doesn't imply that others should do similarly.
imo its worth reconsidering the reasons to be anti-nuclear.
