yes, the cost of nuclear energy is a serious matter. the CSIRO Gencost report showed though that the cost of nuclear energy is falling due to modern processing and technological developments. its now rated as cheaper than coal and gas.
using former coal plant sites is a reasonable proposition imo as the coal plants were all situated well outside of city areas.... in NSW mostly around Hunter and Central Coast lakes. so no need to worry Pt Piper residents.
I'm not advocating for nuclear, merely pointing to some issues with your rejection lappie..... but imo nuclear energy will eventually be adopted in Aus as we do need a serious baseload generation capacity. the next election should see nuclear energy be debated strongly and this may provide us with a better understanding of community sentiment. if the election results in a slide on Labor support its pretty likely that Labs will adopt nuclear energy at some stage in the following term.
