Democratic governments must win by popularity and Rudd is certainly playing the "I'm Popular" game.
So don't expect any workable decisions because they will not be popular. Expect these financial excesses to be worked off behind the scenes.
Inflation will run rampant so the government can blame Woolworths and Coles.
The Carbon trading scheme will not just penalise high polluters and subsidise the more efficient. Huge sums of money will be siphoned off into Government coffers and never seen again.
Power bills will double and double again. Passing through into everything the consumer needs.
Overall, living standards will fall dramatically and there will be many more people living in poverty.
The process of popular Democracy has outlived its usefulness and some better system has to evolve.
Much the same as parents who try to be continually popular with their children generally fail to set standards of discipline, self discipline, manners and respect, a popular government tries to please its supporters rather than making choices which work in the long term.
