For most brokerages now computers do the bidding/selling on large orders. You might have only sold or bought one and the brokerage is paid on that however no brokerage is charged on the balance once its executed until you cancel the order (amendments are also fine) then your screwed. as said computers do all the work for large orders and it comes down to how close you are to the exchange for the speed of the order to market
