Some years ago I read a very good book on this subject.
" Darwins Black Box " by someone or other BEALE ( can't remember his 1st name ) who is a prof, of biochemistry in USA
His position was, given the enormous complexity of the biochemistry of human life, it could not have come about by a series of chances. Used the example of vision in one case where the chemical reactions which cause us to see are very complicated...... rhodopsin....> lumirhodopsin etc etc etc Each of these reactions is entirely dependant on the preceeding one & any break in the chain would mean the whole thing would stop. Chances of all this happening from random episodes is zip. To top it off this has to happen in front of a lens which can focus the light. Simply would not work if it occured in the kneecap.
He makes a very sound case that for live to have evolved out of the primoral soup would be statistically impossible.
Once it has somehow started I have no problem with the natural selection bit of survival of the fittest so the evolution of ancient to modern man makes sense. Or indeed the survival & adaptation of any living species
Having said that I can't quite rationalise where the "creator" came from either.
Some things are beyond our comprehension & we just have to accept them.
