I've always felt their was some corruption and money laundering involved, and the company couldn't discuss if for fear of the Malian government stripping the company of its assets, including the lithium. Essentially, they just had to bend over and take it. Also doesn't look great as a director to be scammed. Very embarassing.
But just my speculation.
