where did the p platers go

I was curious if anyone else noticed this:

In 2007 when it was good times and stocks couldn't stop climbing and everything was stable I noticed a lot of P-Platers driving on the roads, revving their V6's and racing each other at lights.

Most of that money came from parents, yet they would still insult the drivers of slower yer much more fuel efficent cars like the Starlet, such as me.

In 2008 when fuel started spiking, I see the roads clean at nights. No P-Platers racing, infact barely any P-Platers. Mortgage/stress, parents going broke and investments going down means no fuel money for the kiddies.

Infact I do see a P-Plater with a fully sick car I see them drive pretty slowly and not rev. It's almost ironical that the guy with a cheaper and more fuel-efficient car prevailed in the battle for road+economic supremacy.

Joy to small Toyotas. Cheap to fix, cheap to drive, long to empty the tank.
